In talking with some fellow crafters and artists the other day, I discovered that many of them are quite disconnected from the world of marketing themselves online. While I’ve managed large, multimillion dollar brands and a few probloggers, many artisans simply put up their stuff on Etsy or Zibbet and hang out on Facebook all day, promoting their stuff to others like them. (Which makes sense, in a way, but also doesn’t. Will explain this later.)
I’ve decided that I need to use my knowledge and ability to help these people. The economy is such a downer for everyone, and we’re all trying to figure out ways to make more money, sell more pieces, and get ourselves out there. But way too many don’t know where to start, feel overwhelmed with generic information, and don’t really have the confidence to get out there and do the things they should be doing. I’m going to fix that.
I’ve decided to start up a special e-course that I’m going to offer up for free. It will feature basic tips and tutorials on how to get started in real self-promotion (in other words, finding buyers OUTSIDE your circle of fellow artists and crafters). I’m not sure how long the course will go for, but basically every week, you’ll get real, honest, easy-to-understand advice with action steps you can take to increase your chances of success online with your artsy fartsy self!
